As of September 1, 2015 the GATOR SWIM TEAM will be a part of a larger Cache Valley swim team under the name of the CACHE VALLEY MARLINS SWIM TEAM.

Welcome to the Cache Valley Marlins

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Cache Valley Marlins! I am really excited for this new venture. I hope you will bear with me and be patient during the transition process. It will take time, months even. But with support and patience, we will get the groove.

Some of you have asked about schedule for next week. Since I do not know what this group looks like at all, I will have a tentative schedule and then one that we want to work towards starting in September. 

For now, I want to have the advanced group (now Gold) swim from 3-5 daily. In Hyrum we have a Gold B team as well who swim 1.5 hours a day. I'm not sure if your group will have that option or not yet. 

Silver or Intermediate we can keep at 5-6:00 

Bronze or pre comp 4:30-5:00. 

After next week, I'd like to get into a schedule until High School swimming starts. Then the schedule will have to slightly change again only for the Gold swimmers. Sorry, it's just how it works with sharing a pool with High School and such. 

September I would like to have:

Gold 3-5 (these are mostly high school aged swimmers and some faster youngsters)

Gold B potentially 4:30-6:00. These would be your 6-8 grade kids who aren't as fast as Gold A, but still pretty good and need more than 1 hour in the pool. I'm not sure yet how to work this until I get out there next week. These kids will be the ones who will swim 4:30-6:00 once high schoolers leave for their season.

Silver can still go 5-6 daily 

Bronze I want Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 5-6. 

We will just have to see how things go when we get there. I will have help from Zaak and Bob and when the high school season begins, Marcus will be helping with Marlins in Smithfield as well. 

Things will be kind of crazy coach wise until we get settled, but we will figure it out. Expect emails.

Fill out your account information for all of your swimmers. Also your payment info. If you would rather pay by check, the checks are made to CVM and can be turned into me or one of the coaches. I prefer paying online so as to streamline the process and not worry about lost checks.

Team Merger

A Gator Parent Meeting was held on August 10, 2015, to discuss and vote upon a proposed team merger between the Logan Gators and the Cache Valley Marlins Swim Team.  A vote was taken at the meeting and votes were accepted via email as well.

The outcome of the voting was to merge the two teams.  The vote and decision followed all the requirements of the Logan Gator's bylaws.

As information becomes available we let you know.

The Summer 2015 Practice Schedule will be finalized after we received confirmation from the Logan Aquatic Center on our practice time slot.

JUST A REMINDER:
With the exception of injury (or a prolonged illness), dues are payable for the entire month regardless of swimming activity OR dues are not due for the month with prior notice given to the Treasurer (Roxanne Jackman) if swimmers are taking a break for that month or more.  Send notice to logangators@gmail.com or logangatorsbilling@gmail.com. Dues will be credited automatically by the team for the weeks that the pool is closed for maintenance.

APRIL 2015 Gator Gab

If you have considered training to be a stroke and turn official (the ones in the white shirts at the swim meets!), there is a clinic scheduled for Cache Valley on Tuesday, April 14 from 7-9 PM at the Cache County School District Technology Building.  The clinic is taught by Teri Rhodes.  We will need to have several new officials trained in the next year in order to continue to offer swim meets.  Please consider going to this clinic to see if you'd like to continue training to be an official.  The team will pay all of your fees and you will have your swimmer's USA registration fee covered by the team as well.

Our team/family banquet is coming up on April 24 at 6:15 PM at Sky View---right after we finish the Swim-A-Thon during practice.  More information on the Swim-A-Thon is in the newsletter and there will be an email sent out shortly with ticket information for the banquet.

BC and State Championships are Coming Up!

Just a reminder about some upcoming meet entry deadlines.

The CVM Last Chance Meet is on Saturday, February 28. Entries are due Feb 20.

BC North Finale is at the Olympus High Aquatic Center on March 13-14.  Entries due Feb 28.

(If you are swimming at JO Age Group Championships, you may not be able to swim in this meet. PLEASE CHECK WITH COACH CADEN IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS ON IF YOU CAN SWIM AT THE BC MEET.

BC FINALE MEET INFORMATION LINK

JO SC Age Group championships at the South Davis Rec Center March 18-21.  State entries are due March 1.  Your BC result times that meet State Time Standards will be accepted for entry into JOs.

JO AGE GROUP CHAMPIONSHIPS MEET INFO LINK

Coaches have all of the qualifying times for the events and your swimmers current personal best times.  Please contact them with any questions.  We have a lot of swimmers that have qualifying times for BC, so please check with your coach if you interested in going.

Upcoming Meets

To all that attended and helped with Bridgerland Open this last weekend, THANKS!  This meet was a success.  We hope you all had fun.  Our team had a lot of personal best times and should be proud of themselves.

Attached is the meet information for CVM's Last Chance Meet on Feb 28 @ Mt Crest. All entries must be turned in by Friday Feb 20th, to ensure our team gets a spot in the meet.  This will be the last chance to get a state time for this year.  

The BC Finale (another state qualifying meet) will be held on March 13-14. More information to follow.

The JO Championships (State) will be held at the Davis Rec Center on March 18-21.  You have to qualify for this meet.  If you have questions about whether or not your swimmer has qualified or is close, please contact a coach. They may be closer than you think!
