LOCKER CLEAN OUT

All lockers in the swimming pool locker room MUST be emptied out by Friday, August 8th. The pool and locker rooms will be closed for cleaning and all remaining locks will be cut off and the locker contents added to the lost and found donation. Even if you are not swimming right now but have left stuff in a locker you need to come in and empty it out and remove your lock.

Short Course & Long Course

A short course pool is 25 yards (or, occasionally, 25 meters) long; a long course pool is 50 meters long. The majority of swimming competition in America, and the majority of the pools, are short course yards, while in other parts of the world, meter-length pools and long course competition are more prevalent. Most U.S. national and major international championships -- such as World Championships and the swimming competition at the Olympic Games -- are held at the long course distance.

The annual swimming calendar in the U.S. is divided into two seasons. From September to March, virtually all competition is short course.

April through August is long course season. During this period, swimmers train at, and meets are offered at, the long course distance whenever possible.
